it's not that i'm free or anything

i'm boring. plain old boring. i don't do anything exciting like go clubbing, hang out in town, erm... i'm so boring, i don't even know what happening people do. i hang out at the library now.

PRC guide to singapore:
1. In this tropical climate, it is ok to save water by not taking a bath because singapore water is expensive.

2. One bag on table means one people sitting at table. Whole table is only unavailable if there are 4 bags and 4 people.

3. Everyone in singapore speaks mandarin. Skin colour not an indication of language ability.

4. Washing clothes is optional because of reason 1.

5. If you wash clothes, leave them in basket for 3 days so that soap smell will stick to clothes.

6. It's ok to anyhow dribble in toilet. You don't have to clean it up like back home where you have to empty shit bucket everyday.

7. Toilet paper in toilet is for personal use. Magically appears when runs out. Bring back to room.

8. Memorise 10 english essays to pass tests and then never speak english again. Invent chinglish!

9. Saying teacher is wrong because physics chinese textbook says otherwise is indication of level of cleverness and will get you 1st class honours.

10. Getting a B would mean that you have to go back home and join your father at the farm. No more school for you.

(Obviously written in chinese, translated by me)

Everything seems to be working against me and my studies. Days are flying past and the exams are drawing closer. Still have lots of work to catch up on no thanks to my trip to UK. I'm really lucky that i have a group of friends that are working hard too and that i can ask for help whenever i need it.

Current situation of subjects:
physics (gone fuck)
math (still the best subject of all)
electrical engineering (behind by 4 chapters or something)
computing (screwed up mid term but improving... i hope)
genes and society (mid term not so good but at least i don't have to study like hell for this one)
making sense of society (enjoying the subject though i have not done a single reading)

Sociology readings are just too much. Stop talking and give me numbers and flux linkages. Give me if/while loops and switch operators. Resistors, currents and voltmeters anyday over sociology readings. I wonder how i'll do for my sociology mid term.

maybe you don't know this, but i treasure every day that i wake up and am able to walk around without pain. It's been 14 months since my operation and i'll never forget the pain that i endured for almost 2 years. the feeling of being able to walk without my back ache, being able to lie on my stomach, of being able to stand on 2 legs and not feel a numbness in my left leg. the endless trips to the hospital, acupuncture, therapy. the inability to be physically active due to the pain that i suffer when i run. to think i did all that just for that bar.

saw this magnet in the co-op (something like a bookshop in school) which said "If you fail, lower your standards", "Hard work pays off in the future, laziness pays off NOW".
