a battle we can never win

really bored in the library now... here's the age old "what i hate about the opposite sex" argument... haha... one sided but i don't care

1. “Mind games” - For the uninitiated, mind games refer to the tricks that girls play in order to get inside a guy’s head. Out of nowhere she’ll ask questions like, “Have I gained weight?” or “Do you think she’s pretty?”

You’re in dangerous territory guys, and your options are limited. If you answer ‘yes’ to either question, she’ll go ballistic. If you take too long to reply, she’ll think you’re lying. If you answer too quickly, she’ll know you’re lying.

Make a wrong move and you could set off a landmine. Talk about stress man – just thinking about it gives me the shivers…

2. Double Standards – Have you heard the feminist argument about girls wanting to be treated the same way as guys? Err… no they don’t. The single strongest argument against feminism is that girls believe in double standards.

Who pays for meals? Who gets in trouble for turning up late? Who can’t even look at members of the opposite sex? Sure as hell not girls - and they’ll complain about this “ill-treatment” till your hair turns grey. If doormats had a gender, I swear they’d be a male. (Of course here, i expect some tremendous burst of comments from girls about how this is not true... Oh shut up will you)

3. PMS - This isn’t a myth conjured up by guilty men to shirk ‘boyfriendly’ duties – PMS is real, and it really sucks. You don’t even need to be attached to get a monthly dosage of this biological flaw. Erratic behavior, temper tantrums – you name it, she’s got it. (And when you're attached, boy does it really suck)

Sigh… remember the good old days when the most stressful period in your life was when EPL season ended?

4. Her stress - When a girl is stressed, don’t think that you can get away with being Mr. Sunshine. She’ll whine about everything that’s bugging her out, be it school, her weight or something that X said to Y about her, that she heard from Z.

Talk about the shit hitting the fan! At this point, men are coerced into playing guidance counselors, spiritual advisers or shrinks. You’d better prepare a pot of black coffee, cuz you’re in for a long night.

5. “I don’t like (fill in the blank)” – How is it that girls love putting guys on the spot? Be it your friends, your habits or even your dress sense, girls feel a pathological urge to pry into every inch of your life.

The worst scenarios are those with ultimatums like, “If you don’t get rid of X, I’ll be unhappy/I’ll be really unhappy/I’ll be bloody pissed.” WTF! Talk about being caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. No prizes for guessing who the devil is.

On a seperate note, i was just thinking about what is the best thing i've learnt from the army. yes, i'm sure it's all about the bitching and stuff but the one thing that really hit me the hardest was when i was in OCS. To me, the most important message was that you cannot expect of others what you cannot achieve. The whole leading by example stuff... I guess it's the greatest thing that i have learnt...
